Heartland coach, Emmanuel Osigwe said that the Owerri lads still have some steam left to climb to the top of the Premier League, despite their 1-0 loss to league leaders Dolphins of Port Harcourt last weekend.

The former Eagles’s striker stated that his team has learnt from their mistakes in the previous games and they would make improvement from the 11 position they currently occupy with 14 points from 10 games. Heartland are home to “ We have rectified our mistakes and make sure we win our next match so that we can climb up on the league table

He blamed last weekend’s loss on poor officiating, the regular complaint by losing coaches.
“We still lack credible officiating. We lack credible officiating.

“Dolphins is a good side, Heartland is a good side too, but if only we would be having good officiating, our football will improve. But if we continue this way, I don’t think there will be any improvement of the Nigerian football.

Heartland who top the league last season, has been a shadow of themselves after the sacking of Kelechi Emetole who led to the final of the CAF Champions league in 2009. However, the club’s general manager, Fan Ndubuoke believes that with the appointment of a competent coach, the fortunes of Heartland will turn around.

Idoko sees Sunshine in the league horizon

Ondo State football agency boss, Mike Idoko said that he foresees Sunshine of Akure winning the Nigeria Premier League at the end of the season.

Sunshine are second behind Dolphins of Port Harcourt on the log. A win for them this afternoon and a loss for Dolphins will see Sunshine Stars in front. Idoko said that his team has all it takes to go the whole yard to frog leap Dolphins and maintain the lead.

“We have all it takes to win the league. nd my prayer is for the players not to sustain injury that would slow them down,” said Idoko
He added that Sunshine will not be carried away by their performance so far in the league. He maintained that the team will remain focused till the last match of the season.

“I ‘m impressed with our performance so far but we are mindful of the fact that the season is too young to lay claim to anything, let alone write off any team.

“We are doing well yes, we appreciate it but it is not yet time to celebrate. We can start counting when we get to week 24, 25 but the truth of the matter is that we won’t allow this achievement get into our heads. We know that every club will want to bring our team down because every team wants to win but we are not new in the league.”
