GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Citizens’ Popular Party, CPP, in the just concluded re-run elections in Delta state, Chief Ogbe Onokpite, Monday, conceded defeat and congratulated Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, even as he described the election as the freest and fairest election ever conducted in the state. He  also pledged to support the Governor in his efforts to move the state forward.

The CPP candidate, who hails from the volatile Uvwie Local Government Area, said the election was very peaceful in the area and also commended the security agencies for doing a great job in ensuring peaceful election in the state.

Chief Ogbe said though he became a strong critic of Uduaghan after 2007 general elections, following the massive rigging and manipulations in that election, he, however, said this recent election has laid all that to rest as the result particularly in his area reflect the mind of the people while final result also reflect the mind of Deltans.

According to him, “the election was a sincere and good election. People actually came out to cast there votes for the candidate of their choice, there was no violence, no gun shots that is usually the case in other eletions, there was no snatching of ballot boxes, everywhere was calm and there was satisfaction in the air.
