THE Labour Party primaries in the House of Assembly in Ondo State, turned violent Sunday as sporadic gun shots were heard in Oba-Akoko in Akoko South West local government and Owo council areas of the state.

An eyewitness account said a lawmaker representing Akoko South West constituency 2, in the Assembly, Mr Abiodun Ogunbi, was allegedly beaten with a charm which  made him to faint.

Vanguard gathered that Ogunbi had to be rushed to the emergency unit in Federal Medical Centre, Owo, for medical attention.

In Oba-Akoko, the crisis was said to have started following alleged substitution of delegates list by some people who wanted to impose candidates on the party.

It was gathered that while accreditation was in progress one of the aspirants moved close to Ogunbi from behind and hit him with the object suspected to be charm and he immediately fell and convulsed before he fainted.

Attempt to revive Ogunbi after his attack, was said to have failed  that he had to be rushed to the Hospital by his supporters.

Irked by the attack, his supporters were alleged to have started shooting sporadically into the air causing stampede in process.

The party’s primary at the constituency was said to have been cancelled to avoid bloodshed.

Contacted,  the Personal Assistant, PA, to Ogunbi said he was still receiving treatment at the Hospital, adding that he is responding to treatment.

However, Vanguard learnt that at Constituency 1 in Owo local government,  gun started booming when the ballot papers were about to be counted by the electoral officers.

Following the  development, the delegates were said to have taken to their heels.
