The market indicators for measuring the performance indices, the market capitalisation and the all share index skyrocketed last week by 5.65 per cent.
Specifically, the capitalisation appreciated by N447.07 billion to close at N8.360 trillion from N7.913 trillion at which it opened the week, while the index surged by 1,399.34 bases points to close at 26,169.86 points from 24,770.52 points.
Nestle Nigeria Plc led 68 other stocks on the gainers’ table with a gain of N16.45 to close at N385.00 per share, Guinness Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N9.52 to close at N200.08 per share and Oando Plc garnered 7.00 to close at N2.74 per share.
Other share price losers include: Dangote Cement Plc N6.50, Nigerian Breweries Plc N5.90, Conoil Plc N3.70,Cadbury Nigeria Plc N3.38, Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc N2.50, Northern Nigeria Flour Mills Plc N1.99, PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc N1.50, among others.
On the contrary, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc led on the losers table, dropping by N1.34 to close at N14.15 per share while Nigerian Bottling Company Plc followed with a loss of N1.04 to close at N35.07 per share and The Okomu Oil Palm Plc dipped by N1.18 to close at N14.80 per share.
Other share price losers include: Paints and Coatings Manufacturing Plc N0.51, University Press Plc N0.46, Multi-Trex Integrated Food Plc 0.44, National Salt Company of Nigeria Plc N0.27,
International Breweries Plc N0.25, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc N0.20, Evans Medical Plc N0.19, among others.
A turnover of 2.12 billion shares valued at N22.445 billion was recorded in 26,018 deals, as trading appreciated by 209.64 per cent in the week under review, in contrast to a turnover of 684.14 million shares valued at N4.94 billion in 12,265 deals.
The Banking sub-sector was the most active on the sectorial analysis accounting for 75.80 per cent of the market turnover with 1.607 million shares valued at N16,974.3 billion in 15,429 deals.
Zenith Bank Plc recorded the highest activity in the sub-sector trading 518.91 million shares valued at N8.31 billion in 2,139 deals, Access Bank Plc followed with the exchange of 141.07 million shares valued at N1.48 billion in 988 deals and Fidelity Bank Plc recorded 112.61 million shares valued at N331.45 million in 582 deals.
The Insurance sub-sector followed on the sectorial analysis accounting for per cent of the market turnover with a turnover of 171.9 million shares valued at N163.84million in 1055 deals.
Continental Reinsurance Plc dominated activities in the sub-sector trading 62.56 million shares valued at N62.65 million in 55 deals, NEM Insurance Company Plc, followed with the exchange of 24.79 million shares valued at N15.30 million in 184 deals and AIICO Insurance Plc recorded 16.09 million shares valued at N16.09 million shares valued at N15.41 million in 260 deals.
