*Building remains cordoned off

Following rumours of a bomb to be detonated in and around the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday, managements of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA and other offices at Motor-ways Plaza and other offices at the old toll gate along Lagos-Ibadan express road have directed their staff to stay at home for few days in order to allow for tensions to calm down as well as allow police to carryout adequate investigation.

This came even as the men of Anti-Bomb Squad of the Nigeria Police continued to put the premises under lock and key as they cordoned off the area, turning back all the people that attempted to go into the compound.

As at press time, the entrance and exit gates of the complex were still under lock as sten-looking policemen kept guide of the area.

It will be recalled that on Thursday, pandemonium broke around Alausa, Ikeja area as rumours of an impending bomb to be detonated circulated through phone calls and text messages.

This came barely three days after some Lagos residents were thrown into panic over a text message received about an imaginary bomb which in few second will detonate at any part of the state

Subsequently, five companies occupying the plaza were quickly evacuated by the Anti-bomb squad attached to the Nigerian Police Force.

The companies are Multilinks communication, Office of the Public Defender, OPD, Oceanic Bank, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA and others.

The private companies and government parastatals occupying the complex were under lock, customers at this moment were busy making enquiries on the reason why the premises were still under lock.
