The National Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Chief Bisi Akande, has read the riot act to party members on their conduct during the party primaries, saying a surveillance system had been established to monitor them and other officers during the exercise.

Akande in a statement yesterday, said the party would also not tolerate any corrupt practises that could undermine the integrity of the party and the primaries’ process.

Chief Akande, while charging party members and officials “to keep to the high standards and behaviour of our party,’’ warned party executives and officials against collecting money or favour from aspirants, while also admonishing aspirants not to give any party executive, official or members of the Screening Committees any money or favour in anticipation of any influence.

“Our party is a disciplined party and a party that is determined to instal democracy and good governance. It will, therefore, not tolerate any corrupt practices or any behaviour that will undermine the integrity of our party and process,” he said.

For the avoidance of doubt, a surveillance system has been put in place to monitor and detect any demands or exchange of funds other than that published in the guidelines. We are determined to ensure democracy and build a strong foundation for good governance,’’ Chief Akande said.

He wished all aspirants the best and urged party executive, officials and the Screening Committees to keep the highest standards of probity and diligence.

The ACN National Chairman also urged all members of the party and indeed the generality of Nigerians to come out enmasse for the forthcoming voter registration exercise.
