Nollywood actor’s wife kidnapped in Enugu

ENUGU—This year has begun on a sad note for one of Nigeria’s top movie stars and comedian, John Okafor (Mr Ibu),as his wife, Mrs. Stella-Maris Okafor, was kidnapped on Monday evening in Enugu State.

Mrs Okafor was kidnapped while she was returning home with her 14- month-old baby as well as a brother and sister in-law.

When contacted on telephone,  actor Ofiafuluagu Mbaka, chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria,AGN, Enugu State chapter, confirmed the  ugly development.

He disclosed that at the moment, the car which Mr. Ibu’s family rode had been recovered as it was abandoned on the way by the kidnappers.

Vanguard gathered that the kidnappers, who trailed the car carrying Mr.Ibu’s family from his home town, have contacted the actor, asking for a ransom of N100 million.

The actor had an experience with kidnappers in 2008 when he was kidnapped while dancing at a joint in the estern part of the country, but was released within 24 hours. wh

Also, popular Nollywood actors as Nkem Owoh, known as “Osuofia” and veteran actor, Pete Edochie, among others, suffered the same fate some months ago.
