IBADAN—AS the Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin remains at the Agodi Prisons, Oyo State,  for the third day,  many political associates and friends have been thronging the place to identify with him in this trying period.

Already, the  Olubadan-in-Council and the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, had summoned emergency meeting to discuss what they “consider as sheer rebellion by Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala against Ibadan people.”

Senator Folarin was remanded in Agodi Prisons by an Ibadan Magistrate Court Wednesday after being arraigned for alleged involvement in the murder of Alhaji Lateef Salako, a factional leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Oyo State branch.

Among those that called on him yesterday were Senator Lekan Balogun, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, governorship aspirant of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the state, eight suspended lawmakers in the state House of Assembly among  others.

Though, the security at the prison was tight, the warders and the security agents still allowed some dignitaries to see the embattled senator.

No newsman was allowed to enter with the dignitaries.

Vanguard observed that the eight lawmakers were also denied access into the prisons yard.

The legislators were led by the former majority leader of the House, Mr. Samuel Adejumobi who was seen arguing with the warders for denying them entry to see their mentor.

Speaking with newsmen, Ajimobi described the detention of the Senate leader as “hazards of the game” and added that until there was change of leadership in the state, the same brigandage would continue unchecked.

According to him, “you cannot rule out thuggery, vindictiveness and parochialism out in the state and until we put the right people like us there, these would continue.”

When Vanguard got to the prison yesterday, some loyalists of the politician were lurking around the premises sill fuming at the role of the State Police Command and the State Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.

It was further gathered that a delegation from the Senate would visit him but the time they would arrive Ibadan was not known at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the Olubadan-in-council and the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII have summoned emergency meetings to discuss how what they consider as sheer rebellion by Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala against Ibadan people.

Vanguard gathered that the two groups regard the incarceration of Folarin as mere witch hunting and a vindictive mission embarked upon by the governor who has not enjoyed the support of Ibadan indigenes and the traditional council.

The Olubadan in council, which is the highest traditional council in Ibadan and Alao-Akala have been having a running battle since the enthronement of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana.

Many issues like the State Traditional Council of Obas, promotion of some village chiefs to bead-wearing kings without making consultation with the Olubadan had pitched the governor against the king.
