Sports minister and chairman of the National Sports Commission, Taoheed Adedoja pledged yesterday to put an end to the myriads of court cases, which according to him have potentials to thwart the development of football in Nigeria.
Professor Adedoja was speaking against the background of the latest spat in the house of Nigeria football, which saw the Nigeria Football Federation throwing the spanner in the works of the Nigeria Premier League board, when it sacked Davison Owumi as chairman of the NPL. Owumi and his backers are spoiling for a show down in the court of law to challenge the NFF.
“There are many challenges facing Nigerian football including the very many court cases.
“ The court cases are stalling the development of our football Football matters, in my opinion, is not supposed to be taken to conventional courts, but the court of arbitration for sports where the experts are available to tackle whatever the problem is between two parties.
“These litigations would be sorted out soon, and I would beg the stakeholders to give peace a chance”, Professor Adedoja said.
He however promised that in the next one week, “Something positive would come our ways in the development of our football”.
