The  Islamic Republic of Pakistan is making frantic effort to reopen her trade centre in Lagos, even as trade figure between her and Nigeria rose to $2.7 billion from $821,423,049,  recently.

According to Acting High Commissioner, Mr. Ahmed Sihorey, the Islamic Republic is keen on boosting  trade and investment between the two countries.

He disclosed that he was in the country to do a follow-up to the re-opening of the Pakinstani Trade Mission/Office in Lagos , and called for stronger relationship between Nigeria andPakistan, adding that Pakistan was ready to cooperate with Nigeria in the area of trade and investment.

The Acting High Commissioner, also called for joint venture between private sectors of both countries and urged the Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry to fast track the signing of the draft trade agreement between both countries and opening of trade missions in both countries.

The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Abubakar Mohammad, who received the envoy, said that the volume of trade between both countries has improved tremendously compared to the previous years.

He assured the High Commissioner that the Federal Government has created a conducive environment for trade and investment to thrive in the country.

Dr. Mohammad added that trade agreement between both countries will be finalised as soon as necessary processes have been completed adding that the Ministry will ensure that the trade mission in both countries become a reality. According to him, that will be to the advantage of the investors and the people of both countries if the trade missions come to a reality.
