By Simon Ebegbulem
THE House of Assembly primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State turned bloody in some local government areas, when armed thugs invaded the venues, with three persons sustaining gun shot injuries.

It was learnt that one of the victims, identified as Aze Isah, who was hit by a stray bullet is currently receiving treatment at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital. The primaries in Akoko Edo Constituency 1,was postponed till Tuesday, after a young man was shot by armed thugs.

Meanwhile, there are indications that the duo of Senators Yisa Braimoh (Edo North) and Odion Ugbesia (Edo Central), may lose their bids to return to the Senate as investigation revealed that majority of the delegates in the North district were rooting for Chief Francis Alimikhena, while delegates from the Central district had zeroed in on Engr. Clifford Ordia to replace Ugbesia.

It was learnt that Chief Anenih had instructed that the best candidates should be allowed to emerge after people resisted the move to return the lawmakers without primaries.

The Director of Publicity of the party, Mr Okhikiria Ihimekpen, explained that “ Chief Anenih encouraged every body to conduct a free and fair primaries and that is why you see that no imposition of any candidate was allowed and we give credit to him.”
