A 28-year-old man has been arrested for bathing his girlfriend with acid  over the latter’s decision to discontinue with the relationship.

The victim, a 400 Level student of the Lagos State University, Ojo, is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital around Ijaniki area.

The incident that signaled trouble for the Economics student, occurred after she was discovered to be pregnant for her boyfriend (name withheld) a development that reportedly interrupted her academics.

The lady, identified simply as Bashirat, was said to have  been with her parents in Morogbo area, until her reinstated in school, with a resolve to discontinue  her relationship  with her ex-boyfriend.

However, on December 26, 2010, her boyfriend was said to have stormed Bashirat’s parents abode at about 8.30p.m., demanding to see his child.

He was said to have managed to cajole Bashirat into having a word with him outside, where he allegedly sprayed  some liquid substance suspected to be raw acid on her.

Bashirat’s cry for help alerted members of her family who rushed out only to see her writhing in pains without  her boyfriend in sight

Police sources said the suspect was arrested, weekend, from his hiding place inside the bush around Okoko area.
