Imo state governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim has congratulated the Director General, National Sports Commission (NSC), Chief Patrick Ekeji over the sports excellence award being bestowed on him by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN),
Imo state chapter.
Ohakim in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Henry Ekpe described Dr Ekeji as a great sports administrator, who has done the country proud in the area of sports.
According to the Imo governor, Ekeji is one of the very many Imo citizens who is contributing his quota to the nation’s development.
“Imo state government is proud of Ekeji. His is an illustrious son of the state and we are proud of his achievements in sports. I want to commend Imo sports writers for honoring him,” Ohakim stated.
The Imo state governor is billed to grace the award ceremony billed for the Imo Concord hotel on January 11 as chief host. Sports philanthropist, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a patron of Imo SWAN would serve as chairman, while former Imo state sports commissioner, Prof Nnamdi Obiaraeri would deliver the key note address.
Imo SWAN chairman, Mr John Nwogu said yesterday that all arrangements have been concluded for the awards ceremony.
“We are set for the event which we want to use to honor a man who has done well
for the country, both as an athlete and as an administrator.”
