No vehiclular movement through Delta state during re-run Thursday, says State Govt

DELTA State Government has announced the restriction of movements Thursday during the period of the re-run, declaring that no vehicle will be allowed in and out of the state from neighbouring states as part of security measures.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Beatrice Omeni in a statement in Asaba said “as part of the measures to ensure a hitch-free gubernatorial re-run election in Delta State, the Delta State Government has directed that all movement within Delta State will be restricted between 8am and 4pm on Thursday January 6, 2011.

“In addition”, the statement further said, “no vehicles will be allowed in and out of the State from neighbouring states during the period and Deltans and indeed all residents in the State have been advised to comply with these directives and ensure orderly conducts during the period of the election”.

Meanwhile, there is already heavy presence of security personnel in Asaba, the state capital.
