Retired FIFA-badged referee, Chief Abel Ehigie who was until a few days ago the Edo state FA Electoral Committee chairman has sensationally resigned his appointment and joined the race for the chairmanship of the Edo state Football Association.

Ehigie said he was forced by mounting pressure from stakeholders to join the race and believes if given the chance, he would change the face of football in Edo.

Ehigie joins three other candidates, Prince Thomas Ehigie, IK Edebiri and Prince Anthony Obaseki,     a sports journalist, who have been campaigning and stratesing.

Obaseki was in Uyo when the NFF held its General Assembly and met with a lot of delegates from other states.
The Edo state FA elections come up on January 10.

Meanwhile, the Osun state FA elections have been slated for January 6th while Edo state organises theirs on the 10th.
Confirming this to Sports Vanguard, secretary of Osun state FA Akin Adio said candidates returned their forms January 2nd while the screening of candidates was concluded on the 3rd of January.
