Bauchi — Alhaji Umar Hussaini, a PDP aspirant to the House of Representatives, has appealed to delegates in his constituency to vote wisely for people of proven integrity during the party’s primaries.
Hussaini, who is seeking to represent Toro constituency in Bauchi, made the appeal in Bauchi.
“The interest of my constituents is my concern. I entered the race to see how I can bring developmental projects to my area and create job opportunities.
“During my service as a legal practitioner, I have established a very good relationship with people to create job opportunities for them,” the aspirant said.
According to Hussaini, he has spent more than N6 million on electricity projects in Toro, Lame and Jama’a districts of Toro local government.
He said N2 million out of the amount was used to install a transformer in Toro district, and similar amount to connect electricity in Lame district.
Hussaini promised that after the projects in district headquarters, he would extend the gesture to wards and major villages in the area to improve the standard of living of the people.
On education, the aspirant claimed to have given scholarships to 84 students in the area, saying 70 students would benefit from the programme this month.
The aspirant said he also sponsored quiz and debate competitions in secondary schools in the area.
He disclosed plans to secure employment for about 30 youths in the Federal Civil Service, and to collaborate with an NGO to involve 5,000 people in a health insurance scheme similar to the National Health Insurance Scheme.
