Plateau United midfielder who was badly injured in the Christmas eve multiple bomb blast that hit Jos, Olayinka Olaniyi may never play football again.
The chairman of the club, Sunday Samson Longbap told Sports Vanguard in Uyo that Olaniyi can never return to doing what he loves doing best as the damage to his left leg was critical.
“Olayinka can never play football again,” the Plateau United Boss said, recounting that “his left leg was badly affected by the blast just as the left side of his face was badly burnt.”
The club boss said the player would survive the wounds but should not be expected to return to the pitch when the injuries were finally healed.
“I definitely feel that possibility should be ruled out,” he confirmed.
But the Plateau United boss frowned at the decision of the NPL to move their home fixtures out of the state.
“I am seriously opposed to the NPL decision because where the bombings took place is far in the outskirts of the city. It is nowhere near the crisis zone so I do not know why they are asking us to play our matches outside our home ground,” the club boss lamented.
He would however bow to the order as the situation in the state was unpredictable.
