Robbery suspect fingers Oni’s aide on arms’ supply

ADO-EKITI—The leader of the alleged robbery suspect who had been terrorising the people of Ido Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government area of Ekiti State, Mr Kenneth George, yesterday insisted that one of the aides of the ousted governor of the state, Engr Segun Oni actually supplied arms in his possession during the 2009 governorship election re-run.

George 30, was among the 23 robbery suspects paraded by Ekiti State Police Command in Ado Ekiti yesterday, said he was among the political thugs recruited by the associates of the former governor to assist the former governor emerged victorious during the governorship election re-run.

Police, equally paraded a prison officer attached to the Shagamu Unit of Nigerian Prison Service found with a stolen Toyota Camry car with a registration No TB 49 KJA and a  70 years old woman found with a stolen generating set

According to the state Police  Commissioner, Mr Adeyinka  Balogun, he said the suspects were arrested by his men after a tip-off by members of the public

Some of the exhibits found in possession of the suspects according to the police boss were four cut to size barrel shot guns,17 life cartridges, one locally made pistol, 1,100 dollars

Others include N312,000,00, 20 handsets and some quantity of weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp

The suspected  kingpin  upon interrogation disclosed that the Personal Assistant [PA] to the former governor gave him the sum of N2.4 million and promised to give him a balance of N3million after  the election George said  the PA refused to fulfil his pledge to pay his balance after the  election

But the PA to the former governor, Mr Bunmi Ojo denied the allegation, saying he had never carried any arm or ammunition in his life
Ojo who had reported himself at the  state police command, said the police had gone to search his house at Ado and Ido Ekiti and nothing incriminating was found in his house
