WARRI—IN pursuit of their bid to stop former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan from re-gaining the coveted seat in the re-run gubernatorial election ordered by the Appeal Court, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and the Republican Party of Nigeria, RPN, yesterday, in Warri, Delta State, formally formed a formidable alliance to unseat the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
Similarly, the Delta South district Acting Chairman of RPN, and one-time Senatorial aspirant on the platform of the PDP, Mr. Tunde Okorodudu, has re-stated that the gubernatorial candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, Chief Great Ogboru, cannot win any election in the state because he is not on ground and does not have any structure anywhere in the state.
He said Chief Ogboru cannot just pounced on Deltans from nowhere and claim to be popular enough to run for the governorship position, maintaining that Ogboru was a joker that should not be taken seriously.
Announcing the merger in Warri, at a gathering of party faithful, state Chairman of RPN, Mr. Felix Eshalomi in company of the ACN state chairman, Chief Adolor Okotie-Eboh and other party executives said the alliance was intended to ensure that the gubernatorial candidate of the RPN, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege comes out victorious in the re-run election as ordered by the Appeal Court.
The Memorandum of Understanding between both parties was signed on the occasion by both party state chairmen and was read to the full house by the Director of Youths Affairs, Ovie Omo-Agege Campaign Organisation, Mr. Misan Ukubeyinje amidst laud applause from supporters.
In his brief remarks, Chief Okotie-Eboh of the ACN said that the main reason for the August gathering was to strategise and mobilize for the success of Omo-Agege of the RPN, since the ACN was not fielding any candidate for the re-run election and charged members to ensure that they mobilize fully for today’s formal declaration by the RPN gubernatorial candidate.
The RPN state chairman, Mr. Felix Eshalomi on his part said they had to form the alliance with the CAN because it is the only party with a manifesto that fit into the political thinking of Omo-Agege and the RPN, even as he stated further that Omo_Agege is the only astute politician with the requisite credential, political sagacity and administrative acumen to take Delta state to the desired level of progress.
