The Minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho, Tuesday, said the Federal Government would no longer tolerate unnecessary influx of expatriates into Nigeria when such manpower could be locally sourced.

The minister made this disclosure while addressing representatives of Southern Gas Constructors Limited, Borini Prono and Essan Infrastructure Africa Ltd.

The companies were invited to defend their expatriate quota requests before the Federal Government.

He also urged other multinationals to borrow a leaf from Southern Gas Constructors Ltd, which had trained over 220 welders locally.

According to him, the pool of welders is where all other multinationals in the country now source theirs.

Iheanacho assured the companies that in view of the justifications rendered, approvals would be granted their expatriate quota requests.

He, however, directed that all approval requests should be forwarded directly to the ministry and not through any other agency for screening or any other purpose.
