PSC promotes 219 Police officers

The Police Service Commission, PSC, Monday announced the promotion of 219 officers of the ranks of Commissioners of Police to that of Superintendents of Police with the criteria of seniority, merit, vacancies and favourable performance evaluation reports strictly adhered to.

The long awaited promotions coming after the officers affected had undergone promotions examinations in Police Colleges and training institutions in accordance with the PSC guidelines for promotion, was beginning to generate apprehension especially as one of the major criteria needed, which is vacancies, abound in the force.

According to a statement signed by Ferdinand Ekpe, Chief Information Officer of the commission, 35 Deputy Commissioners who fulfilled all conditions required for elevation to the rank of Commissioners were promoted to CPs.

Forty six Assistant Commissioners of Police were elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police while 52 Chief Superintendents of Police, were promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police.
