Some aggrieved members of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, who are dissatisfied with the alleged arbitrariness with which the party congresses were conducted in Lagos have instituted an action against the party.

The dissatisfied members are also complaining about alleged absence of internal democracy as they claimed they were denied fresh membership registration exercise.

In a statement by Rasaq Okesiji and Co., counsel to the claimants, the members said: “The party’s  patent arbitrariness and its leadership dictatorial tendencies has resulted in lack of internal democracy and abuse of party processes.

“The general public and members of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, are hereby alerted to a pending suit, suit no. ID/6571/2010.”

In the suit, the plaintiffs are arguing that the conduct of the party’s congresses and/or primaries in Lagos state cannot be valid in the absence of a fresh membership registration exercise of the party in Lagos state, which other state chapters of the party already engaged in” The statement noted further that despite the court action, the party has continued to behave as if all is well, while advising the public to be wary of any subterfuge to portray the contrary.
