The governorship candidate of the Republican Party of Nigeria, RPN in the upcoming Delta State re-run election, Chief Ovie Omo-Agege, on  Friday, formally declared for the race with a promise to execute programmes that would address the needs of Deltans.

Addressing a mammoth crowd of his supporters at the JF Kennedy ground in Warri, venue of the declaration, Omo-Agege reiterated his readiness to respond openly and honestly to the aspirations of the people to ensure rational balance between the long and short term needs of the people of the state.

On hand to perform the symbolic handing over of the RPN’s flag to the candidate and his running mate, Princess Carolina Enuha, was the party’s national chairman, Mr Shittu Mohammed.

Omo-Agege  said,  if elected, his administration would endeavor “to be fair to all interest groups in the state in consonance with the provisions of our constitution; to ensure equitable application of our common wealth and resources; not to give undue advantage to any class or cronies; not to take personal advantage of governance status and to subject myself to the test of fairness and governance at all times.

“To take responsibilities for my actions and inactions at all times; not to look for scapegoats and pass the buck. To take visible actions that will achieve the quintessential goals of governance for the good of the majority; to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the public sector processes; to initiate and implement people-oriented programmes, to accept criticism and productive strategies from our people.

“To make budgeting people-oriented to ensure that my five steps to prosperity programme is implemented with team spirit where the populace is wholly energized and engaged to make it succeed.”

The RPN gubernatorial candidate  said he would build coalitions and alliances that would make  programmes succeed without discriminating on the basis of political leaning or ideological differences and to work with the Federal Government objectively to meet with the aspirations of the people with diverse areas of development.

He said his governorship pursuit under the banner of the RPN was in alliance with the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Delta, adding that his programmes of prosperity summarizes the “growth path to another level to usher in the change we need.”

According to him, some pretentious and publicist policies of the Uduaghan past government was aimed at giving Deltans orange peels instead of the orange fruit. “What is free education if only examination fees are paid without school uniforms and basic textbooks which the government can easily afford? “What is a free health service if only pregnant women get treated for a few weeks before delivery? ”
What have the youths, young men and ladies and the working class of Delta State done to be excluded from the so_called free healthcare services? All these will be promptly corrected and the common good spread to all”, he stated.
