Nsofor frets over Hammers’ bottom placing

Eagles’  striker Victor Obinna Nsofor is worried about West Hams league fortunes and he is wishing to remain in shape to help the club out of relegation waters.

The Hammers are rock bottom with 12 points from 17 matches with two wins and nine loses. Their woes were compounded last weekend when they were beaten at home by Manchester City 3-1.

“I just want to make sure we move off the bottom of the league and get where we want to be.
“It is not funny seeing your club struggling at the bottom of the table. I guess we just have to work harder than we are doing get more points.

Nsofor’s coach Avram Grant backed the player to succeed in England.
“It isn’t easy in your first in England. It has happened to many players, I remember that Dennis Bergkamp wasn’t so good in his first year when he joined Arsenal [in 1995].

“Victor is young, only 23, and he didn’t play so much last year. It sometimes takes time to understand the game and how the English league is.

“Do we have an option to sign him permanently? Yes. All the players we signed [on loan] we wanted options on,” said the former Chelsea coach.

The under fire coach said that Nsofor and the other players must have to wake up and fight their way out of relegation.

All four of West Ham’s matches over the Christmas and New Year period come against sides in the bottom half of the table, starting with Saturday’s trip to Blackburn.

“It is not a time that I like but if I am asking the team to be strong and show character then I have to be the first one to do that.

“I have to lead, be strong and show character.”

“I believe in this team and this club.
“Of course, this is the time to take points – we are coming to the middle of the season.

“There is time to recover but we need to change things and get points. I am sure we will do it. It won’t be easy, but we can do it.”
