KADUNA—Members of Hausa Christians Foundation, HACFO, have paid a solidarity visit to Maraban Kajuru Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camp to fellowship with the displaced.

The camp is the largest among the over 10 camps of IDPs from  attacks of the Adara people of Kaduna state which provides safety, shelter, feeding and clothing for over 4,305 persons from five communities whose houses and valuables were destroyed.

Speaking on the state of affairs of the Camp, HACFO said the number of IDPs and limited food supply were making it difficult for all the people to be adequately fed.

According to him “At this time, many people are only enduring; sincerely it is not an easy work to feed 4,305 people at a time. The camp is not adequate for these people, and due to an outbreak of some diseases, the officials of the camp pleaded with the Christian brethren of Maraban Kajuru to secure them a place to sleep in the night while they return back to the camp during the day.

“They reported to us how many women give birth to still-births and how those ones that were given birth died after delivery within few days due to unfavorable condition.

“The people are traumatized and are in need of serious rehabilitation programmes spiritually, psychologically, emotionally, and physically. The camp is not a secured place for these IDPs, they find it very difficult to secure  shelter from the rain or scorching sun, especially the pregnant and nursing mothers. The condition of these displaced people has compelled most of the men to go home and rebuild their ruined homes so their families can go back,but the challenge has been how to start all over again.”
