LAGOS—As preparations for the 2011 general elections gather momentum, wife of the former governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, has said that she will first of all seek the consent of her husband, Senator Bola Tinubu,  before making her ambition known.

Mrs. Tinubu was responding to questions from newsmen on her speculated intention to run for a Senatorial seat.

Mrs. Tinubu, who was at the headquarters of the Pentecostal Christian Mission, CPM, in Lagos for the church’s annual thanksgiving, said whether she is going to run for a seat at the Senate in  2011 or not, she will consult her husband and receive his blessing since both of them are the same and are working as a team.

She said: “Whether I have the ambition or not, I need to seek the advise of my husband first before I can take that decision because I and my husband are a team. We have always been there for the cause of humanity and that is what we are doing.

“Whether office or no office, God has given us an assignment to affect the lives of the people positively. I have always believed that life is never sweet unless you allow others to enjoy it with you.”

The  former first lady also expressed dismay that political positions in Nigeria had been dominated by the men folk over the decades without due consideration for the women.
