SOME of the 27 soldiers who have recently been pardoned by President Goodluck Jonathan led-government may disengage from the service of the Nigerian Army.

This hint was dropped Monday by one of the  counsel to the soldiers, Mr. Peters Ike Adonu, when speaking with newsmen in his Ibadan office.

Though, he gave kudos to President Jonathan for allowing the soldiers to breathe air of freedom, he stated that some of the soldiers were uncertain of what the future holds for them in the outfit.

He said, “I don’t think the soldiers would want to continue having been ill-treated by their country which they had served with their lives. They may not feel secured because they have been unjustly treated.

While commending the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Onyeabo Ihirijika  for granting the soldiers pardon, he said the action of the COAS had demonstrated that there the Nigerian Army is still full of integrity and honour.

According to him, the COAS has restored the image, dignity and sanctity of the Nigerian Army by pardoning the soldiers unconditionally with their full entitlement. It is enough to justify his integrity.

He stated further that the struggle of the lawyers who held the brief for the soldiers was not in vain

Owing to the global sympathy that the issue had created, he said the release of the soldiers had proved that the NA is still among the best in the whole world irrespective of the fact that some bad eggs tried to stigmatize the army by sectionalizing it.
