IBADAN—Oyo State Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, has said the support of the South-West for the Goodluck/Sambo presidential ticket is unconditional, assuring President Jonathan that his job is perfectly done in the region.
Alao-Akala spoke yesterday in Ibadan while recieving the delegation of the Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation led by its Director-General, Senator Sarki Dalhatu Tafida, at his office.
“Some people around here will tell you they support Jonathan based on certain conditions. But we in Oyo State and the South-West support President Jonathan unconditionally,” he said. He assured the campaign to exercise no fears about the votes of the South-West delegates.
The governor said the South-West had decided to vote for the President and that the region remained committed to that position.
Speaking earlier, the Campaign DG, Tafida, thanked the governor in and the South-West people for their unalloyed support. He said their support would not be in vain as they were supporting a winning ticket.
He said the President would win because “Jonathan is a unifying factor who stands for the unity and development of our country.”
He said the country needed to pay back the Niger Delta for years of collaboration in holding the country together. “It’s pay back time,” Tafida said, adding that it would be difficult to explain to Niger Deltans why their son could not be elected the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Tafida later visited the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana, who prayed for goodluck and the success of the campaign for the election of President Jonathan both at the Peoples Democratic Party primaries and the general election in 2011.
Tafida also inaugurated 66 vehicles donated to state chapter of the campaign by Governor Alao-Akala
