YENAGOA—GOVERNOR Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Wednesday night, visited the family of the late Seidougha Taridi, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who was killed by men in military uniform during last Saturday’s elections.

A statement by Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Relations, Fidelis Soriwei, yesterday, stated that the governor was accompanied during the visit by top officials of the state government and the leaders of Bayelsa State Council.

Dickson, who said late Taridi was in his house when soldiers were invited to gun him down, and a Government House Photographer, Reginald Dei, who survived the attack, assured the family of the determination of the state government to ensure that those who perpetrated the crime are brought to justice.

He said: “We grieve with all of you and the Oweikorogha community; the party and the state grieves with you because this coldblooded murder shouldn’t have happened.

“There was no need for it. He was not fighting with anybody, he was not armed, was not even at a polling station. He was not in any way near electoral materials.

“He was in his own house and people came; soldiers were invited to gun him down in the privacy of his home.

“This is not just a gruesome act of terminating the live of a promising young man, it is a collective assault on our state and that is why I have led this delegation to personally condole with you, his father, wife, children, brother, sisters and all other members of the Taribi family.
