When the acclaimed richest man in Nigeria is walking the streets of Lagos, would it be out of place to see people lining the streets, begging for handouts, you know, any kind of handouts for that matter?

I guess not. It was the case when Alhaji Aliko Dangote,, Chairman, Dangote Group, came strolling out of the Convention Centre of Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites where Hajia Bola Shagaya and Alhaji Bamanga Tukur were spoiling everyone at the wedding of their children, and met with a group of Area Boys and some beggars.

Uncharacteristically, the billionaire was without his usual retinue of aides, looking like he had sneaked in and out of the venue and there he was on the pavilion at the entrance of the Expo Hall, making his way all alone towards the car park, some distance from the entrance.

It was at this point a very sharp Area Boy recognised him and he wasted no time in alerting his croonies who rallied around the rather quiet billionaire. Immediately the atmosphere became charged as the Area Boys began singing all sorts of praises, saying the night was there luckiest night.

If the Area Boys were expecting any sort of ‘Naira rain’, as their actions and utterances suggested what they got must have been the shock of their lives. Instead of the billionaire reaching inside his agbada brocade for some packages or bundles of Naira notes for them he just kept a straight face and walked on. Trust the Area Boys, their praises soon turned into a rain of curses.
