Stop using my kingdom as battle field, monarch warns politicians

By Emma Arubi
WARRI—THE paramount ruler of Uvwie in Delta State, HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe 1, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, has warned politicians to desist from the further use of Uvwie land as battle field to settle their political scores.

The royal father said that the kingdom would not tolerate any further acts of lawlessness, criminality, brigandage, gangsterism and violence of any form with the colouration of political patronages by politicians aspiring for elective positions  or through their cronies.

The monarch made these remarks against the background of a recent incident of youth restiveness, culminating in sporadic shootings, leading to the death of some persons in the kingdom, last week.

He said the kingdom frowns at the instigation by politicians of youths to embark on flagrant breach of public peace.

In a statement by from the palace and the Uvwie Traditional Council (Ogwedion r’ Uvwie) signed by the President General of the Uvwie General Improvement Union, Chief Tuesday A. Onoge, they appealed to all politicians aspiring to elective offices and their supporters to play politics with civility devoid of bitterness and rancour.

They appealed that the electorates be allowed to exercise their franchise right to determine the candidates of their choice through the ballot boxes and not be subjected to any form of intimidation.

While commiserating with all bereaved families in the recent barbaric act, they warned that henceforth they would fish out any politicians that foment trouble to the law enforcement agencies for prosecution no matter their status in the society.
