Leadership and Role Model Foundation has asked members of the House of Representatives to pass into law,  the Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card budget, since such a passage will help in ensuring enhanced national security and therefore serve the best interest of Nigerians.

President of the Foundation, Mazi Omife  Omife made the call in an address in Lagos last week, at a  special media briefing designed to address the vital issue of SIM Card Registration,

The Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card budget is  a brain child of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), which is currently before the House of Representatives having been passed by the upper legislative chamber; the Senate.

While stressing the imperative of the Speaker expediting action towards the passage of the bill into  law by the law makers, Mazi Omeife said the idea behind the conception of the bill was conceived on good faith and for the greater interest of the country, assuring that the nation will benefit immensely if passed into law.

“We are here to review the events leading to the conception, facilitation and execution of the SIM Card registration exercise with a view to respectfully implore the honourable members of the House of Representatives to pass into law, without further delay.
Assuredly, a lot of benefits will accrue to Nigerians if we do things right.

Conversely, intractable problems may arise if we fail to do the right thing. And one of the right things to do in our national space right now is for all people of goodwill to urge the House of Representatives to follow the good example of the Senate and expeditiously pass the SIM Card Registration budget. By so doing, the revered lower chamber of the National Assembly will veritably set the stage for the proper commencement of the SIM Card Registration exercise. Such an exercise, I hasten to re-state, will serve the best interest of Nigerians,”he  said

Justifying the importance of the bill, The LRMF President argued that the importance of mobile phones cannot be over emphasized since  its use has being vital in our developmental process, saying that when the nation  has developmental process that is not well managed, especially by those in leadership position, it can lead to serious and sometimes irreversible catastrophe.
