Jigawa state Police Command has arrested 18 persons following a political clash between members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, at Kila town in Gwaram Local Government Council of the state, leaving the headquarters of both parties razed and over 10 people injured.

A source who pleaded anonymity  told Vanguard that the unfortunate crisis started when CPC gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Faruk Adamu Aliyu, paid a Sallah visit to his family in Kila, and was given a warm reception by his party members.

The source said some PDP members in the town were not happy with the way, the CPC gubernatorial candidate was honoured by his members, and started a demonstration in the town. The source said the CPC  members reacted  and this  resulted in a bloody clash that left over 10 injured.

Parties’ secretariat razed

Vanguard gathered that the clash erupted shortly after the gubernatorial aspirant had left the village.

When contacted the state Police spokesman, ASP Abdul Jinjiri who confirmed the incident, said the Police had already arrested 18 persons in connection with the fracas, adding that the situation was under control.

ASP Jinjiri also said the Police is still investigating the cause  of the crisis and those behind it. He assured that as soon as they conclude the investigations, the arrested suspects will be taken to  court.
