Delta re-run: Students call for level playing field

By Festus Ahon
UGHELLI—NATIONAL President of the National Association of Delta State Students, NADESSTU, Mr Agbanashi Obinne, yesterday, said former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan played a leading role in the welfare of students of the state origin.

Obinne in a statement in Ughelli, Delta State, said, “the recent court pronouncements have thrown up many challenges and tend to heat up the peaceful atmosphere the state government had created.

“While we await Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to fix a date for the re-run election as was ordered by the appellate court, I urge the Federal Government through INEC, elders/leaders of thought, political parties and stakeholders to give room for a level play ground to allow a democratic process  nature would applaud.

“With a level playing ground,  aspirants would not just go to the poll with confidence, but a genuinely elected Governor would emerge.

“Whenever the nullification comes to our minds, the students’ relationship with the former Governor is always fresh in our minds too. He has been a ground patron of the Delta State students and demonstrated the ‘aluta’ in him by not just identifying with students’ course,” he added.

“He increased students bursary from N10,000 to N20,000, this is worthy of note. It is not a fact to bicker Uduaghan was students loving governor. Let us not unnecessary heat up the polity, it is still one Delta one Love”.
