Abuja hosts Common Fund for Commodities’ Meeting

Abuja, the Federal Capital City of Nigeria will next week play host to the 22nd annual Governing Council Meeting 2010 of the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC).

The Meeting is jointly organised by the Fund and the Government of the Federal Republic of    Nigeria. CFC is an International Financial Institution established by the United Nations (UN)

It has Financed commodity development projects for small holder farmers as well as small and medium sized enterprises in commodity production, processing and trade in developing and least developed countries.It has financed a range of important development projects in Nigeria and throughout the West Africa region.

Among CFC projects approved for Nigeria are cassava Value Chain Development which support processing and value addition by Small and Medium Enterprises in Nigeria namely: Joe Bag Farms, in Nassarawa State, Shaback Farms in Kuje, Federal capital Territory and Maigwuan village at
Lafia in Nassarawa State.
Also, CFC has commenced the rubber project titled “Promoting Development of economically viable Rubber Small holding in West Africa” Not only that the project on palm oil in Cameroun and Nigeria titled “Improving the income generality potentials of the oil Palm are ongoing.
