ABUJA—As the Sallah celebrations begin today, the Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Abubakar Ringim, has directed all states commissioners of police to deploy men and patrol equipment to black spots in their commands to ensure that there was no breakdown of law and order.
In particular, Vanguard learnt that the Police Commissioners of states of Kano, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna and Yobe were directed to be on red alerts as the dreaded Boko Haram Islamic Sect may want to use the occasion of the Eld-el-Kabir to foment trouble.
Assuring Nigerians of adequate security of life and property before, during and after the Sallah celebration, the IG said no effort will be spared in ensuring peace and security.
A statement by CSP Yemi Ajayi, Deputy Force Public Relations Officer for the IG, said: “The IGP, Hafiz Abubakar Ringim, is using this occasion of the Eld-el- Kabir to extend his goodwill message to all Muslim bothers and sisters across the country.”
“He also urges Muslims to emulate and reflect the teachings and life of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) in their dealings and conducts, describing Eld El Kabir as a period when the fear of Allah should be given utmost priority in the lives of adherents”.
“The IGP uses this medium to pray for successful 2010 Hajj for all Muslim pilgrims in Saudi Arabia and notes the importance of keeping to the promises of Hajj, as it is the basis of Eld El kabir”.
“While saluting officers and men of the Nigeria Police force for their tireless, courageous and selfless service to the nation, the IGP assured them that the administration of the force is committed to revitalize and restore the Nigeria Police force principles of, industry, efficiency, and dedication to duty”.
