Youths flay sale of employment forms by govt agencies

UGHELLI—YOUTHS under the auspices of Delta Youth Initiative have condemned in strong terms the sale of employment recruitment forms by government establishments in the country.

The group in a press release signed by its Director, Comrade Franklin Oseya, noted that “the practice of asking unemployed graduates to pay between N1000 and N2,500 for employment recruitment forms by government establishments when only a few would be employed eventually, is not only unconscionable but runs counter to the tenets of fundamental objectives and directive principles of state policy as enshrined under Chapter II of the 1999 Constitution.  Employment recruitment exercises must not be turned into a source of revenue drive for government especially in the midst of prevailing economic hardship where the unemployed can hardly feed.

We therefore commend the Delta State Government for directing the refund of the N1,500 each collected via the sale of forms for the Asaba Airport Staff recruitment exercise.

And also for her intervention in stopping the already advertised N2500 for application forms for NDDC electrical certification training programme. NDDC as an interventionist agency is meant to empower the youths, not to take from them under any guise.
