WARRI — STUDENTS of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools in Delta State itemised, yesterday, the contributions of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to the development of education and other sectors of the state, and vowed to return him to power in the fresh election that had been ordered by the Court of Appeal.
Coordinator of the Delta State Students, Comrade Phillip Urieh, in a keynote address at a declaration/endorsement ceremony of Uduaghan in Warri said: “Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Ugduaghan has done well and has 89 per cent remarks through his three -point agenda.
He has attracted so many development projects to all the three senatorial districts of the state. He ensured that dividends of democratic reached the grassroots. Uduaghan has gained national recognition and general acceptance. His clearcut cardinal programmes have endeared so many to him”.
“Uduaghan has dominated the governance of this state; he has impacted positively on the lives of the teeming populace. Therefore, there is need for its continuity. Uduaghan is a child of divinity who is very important to Niger Delta at large with the related implication of peace and stability in the state.
He is very significant to the nation; he has distinguished himself and has meritoriously served the state in full capacity. We should not allow ourselves to be captive of ancient and primordial policies as long as there is justice, fair play and equity. Those who have been honoured will do more and encourage and contribute to the upliftment of our fathers land.
“We therefore call on the major stakesholders in the democratic process, the press, INEC and the Nigeria police force to live to their constitutional responsibilities in the same vein i also appeal to you my fellow student and youths to see themselves as crucial in the task of the nation building.
We should not be used as thugs by political detractors to cause violence and confusion in a way to disrupt the smooth election of Dr Emmanuel Uduanghan”, he said.
