French Olympic silver medallist Steve Missillier ruptured his Achilles tendon during the first run of the giant slalom at Val D’Isere, the French Ski Federation announced on Saturday.

Missillier, who finished second at the 2014 Sochi Games, stopped in a security net despite not falling after a turn in the piste.

He missed all of last season through injury.
