WARRI — A Member of the Delta Waterways Security Committee, DWSC, Reverend Duke Akpososo, weekend, expressed concern over  the latest ranking of Africa as the most corrupt continent in the world by Transparency International,TI, and challenged the group to make public its parameters for such verdict.

Speaking to Vanguard, in Warri, he said, “the recent rating of Africa as the most corrupt continent in the world is parochial, subjective and suspicious.”

According to him, “this is another attempt by TI to give the African continent a bad name in order for the international community to hang it.”

“Africa, therefore, rejects TI’s allegation of corruption levelled against her. This is corrupt in itself, unfair, unjust and above all, contestable as this assessment is not open. Africa demands an apology from TI,” he said.

“I challenge them to throw its cards face-up and show Africa and indeed, the world the parameters used in arriving at such a demonic allegation, that the Africa continent is the most corrupt continent in the world.”

“Africans refuse to accept such social stigma that is not subjected to any known form of scientific testing. Africa deserves a fair support from the rest of the world, grappling with the teething problems of development.”

“Africa is struggling to recover from the damage done her by her former colonial masters. In trying to do this, there are bound to be few mistakes, which are developmental tasks that Africa must pass through,” he added.
