Yenagoa—Bayelsa government has approved N500m for the completion of various water schemes within Yenagoa and its environs.
The release of the fund is expected to help boost water supply by the state Water Board, which currently spends N210,000 daily on diesel to power its facilities due to the erratic public power supply.
The state Commissioner for Water Resources, Chief Francis Kuroghoekegha, in an interview in Yenagoa, said already, the sum of N300million had been released to the Ministry.
Kuroghoekegha, who outlined the action plan of the Ministry in the next couple of months, said the various contractors handling water projects in the state have been mobilized.
