ERSTWHILE Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, Kojo Williams is yet to come to terms with the news that Samson Siasia was appointed  Super Eagles coach ahead of Stephen Keshi.in the interview conducted last week by the Technical Committee of the NFF. Williams called our hotline to know how it all went.

SV: Siasia is the new coach. He beat Keshi to the Job

Kojo: How did he do that? What criteria did they use?

SV: Siasia beat him and has been declared the new coach.

Kojo: Was it WAEC or JAMB that they set for them? He breathed heavily on the phone and said that “I feel for Nigerian football,” and was silent for some seconds.

When he recovered from the shock, he asked if they allowed Siasia to pick his assistants and if Dutchman Simon Kalika would work with Siasia. When I said yes, he was relieved and said “that’s very good. I am happy to hear that the Dutch guy is going to work with him.

That is the good news”. Kojo did not stop there. He also warned Nigerians not to expect anything good from Siasia until after five years. “I hope that Nigerians will allow him to work.

I hope that they don’t expect anything good from him immediately. They have to give him nothing less than five years for him to put everything in place. I don’t think that Siasia himself can promise anybody anything now.

That will be suicidal. He has to take his time before we can begin to reap results. It’s important that Nigerians know this and give him chance to perform”, Kojo said.
