Asaba- FIGHTING broke out, weekend, at Mosogar community in Delta State between two youth factions, resulting in the burning of property and shooting of a carpenter, simply identified as Solomon.

Reports said there were sporadic gunshots in the area on Friday night, which continued up till yesterday.

The youth president of Mosogar kingdom, Mr. Edokpolo, who spoke to Sunday Vanguard on phone, yesterday, said, “I was even the person that the thugs, led by a suspected hemp dealer, attacked at a drinking spot in the community on Friday night.”

He said his group fought back and reported the matter at the Mosogar Police Station “only to hear later while we were at the police station that they had gone on the rampage in the community, shooting one of the youths, Solomon, and burning property of people.”

Edokpolo said he was not aware whether police had arrested any of the suspects as at the time he spoke to Sunday Vanguard, but pointed out that the crisis had to do with leadership crisis among the youth body.

He said the thugs, who had the support of some unnamed persons in the community wanted to overthrow his executive by all means, declaring, “We are determined that we should not allow them to let illegality and thuggery thrive  in Mosogar.”
