Brigadier-General Emmanuel Okaro (rtd) has advised newly appointed Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia not to be carried away in his new job as the head coach of the senior national team.

Okaro who expressed delight over the news of Siasia’s appointment said though it was long over due, it is a task that he must carefully handle.

“I think the reason for his selection is that, for years he has been around and has improved himself within the shores of the country. First, he has coached the Olympic team on two occasions and he has also coached a league side before this job.  Keshi has hardly been around and he was once an assistant to Shaibu Amodu.”

When asked his advice to the newly appointed coach, Okaro said Siasia should be focussed and not be carried away.
“My advice to Siasia is that he should not get carried away, that for the fact that most Nigerians supported his appointment, he  should be very serious with his job and focus on what he came there to do.

These same people may be the ones to crucify him the moment he makes a mistake. Carefulness and hard work should be his watch word.

“He must keep low, get the right players and train them properly and make sure he wins his matches and qualify Nigeria for the Nation’s Cup”, he said.
