Former Super Eagles player Okey Isima has called on the management of the  Nigeria Premier League, NPL to  look into coaches that are being owed by their employers.

With the controversy between former Rangers assistant coach, Sylvanus Okpala and his employers, Enugu Rangers, Isima, said it is an important issue which needs to be tackled before the commencement of the 2010/2011 session of the Nigeria Premier League which kicks_off today in Kaduna.

“If any club is still in debt or still owing any body, be it coaches or players, they should pay or else there is no need to begin the league.  The league should be a good example to clubs and not the other way round.

They have to stop the league and pay everybody they owe, if they really want a successful league this season. If any club owes, they should be able to pay their debtors before the league starts and know what is left for them and see if they can continue with the league.

“The improvement starts by paying the footballers, this is an important issue.

Secondly, they have to pay   referees, making sure that every home team do not win home matches at all cost, this has been a major problem and it is a sign of bribery. And lastly, make sure that every match is televised so that fans will be able to watch the local league like the way it is with European league.

Thirdly, the team that do not have good facilities to play on should not be included  this season,” he said
On how the fans can be brought back to the stand this season, Isima said there is the need for maximum security on the fans.

“To be able to bring the fans back to the stands, there should be improvement on our facilities. One important aspect is security, I believe with a well secured place for the fans I think it will go a long way to attract the fans back to the stands,” he said.
