AWKA—NATIONAL Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Attahiru Jega, will today in Onitsha, Anambra State, confer with traditional rulers in the five states in the South East geo–political zone to solicit their cooperation towards ensuring the success of the impending voters registration in readiness for the 2011 general elections.
It was gathered yesterday that the visit was part of the nationwide sensitization exercise on the registration of voters expected to start in January, 2011.
The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, who is Anambra State’s chairman of the traditional council and select royal fathers from the zone, are expected to receive the INEC boss in the commercial town.
