OWERRI—Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Egbu, Professor Emmanuel Iheagwam, has cautioned Northern politicians who open their mouths widely and say unsavory things to be mindful of their utterances.

Prof. Iheagwam gave the word of caution during a Eucharistic service of confirmation, admission and induction for Ngor and Umuohiagu/Logara parishes in Ngor Okpala local council area of Imo State.

“It is not proper for any tribe or group to arrogate to itself the perpetual right to the rulership of Nigeria.

“There is the need for mutual respect among the political class so as not to truncate the current democratic engineering,” the Bishop said.

Urging Nigerians to be wise and register during the re-validation of voters register, Prof. Iheagwam also urged the citizenry to ensure they came out en-masse to vote in the 2011 general elections.

“To build a new Nigeria of post-golden jubilee era, Nigerians must, as one body, offer themselves to be used by God to actualize His purpose for the country,” Iheagwam pleaded.

The Anglican cleric stressed the need for unity among the diverse ethnic groups in the country for the nation to move forward, stressing that “it was by the grace of God that the nation survived the last 50 years as an entity.”
