Asaba—Former Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, chairman, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, has won the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, House of Assembly primary in Uvwie council.
Ighrakpata polled 87 votes to beat his closest rival, Mr Peter Abugewan, who polled 28 votes as Mr Matthew Tsekiri got 17 votes and Mr Happy Uvwiebodje, 0.

Elections
Declaring Ighrakpata winner of the election, having polled the highest number of votes cast, the Returning Officer, Mr Fidelis Tilije, said the election was peaceful and orderly.
He thanked the delegates and people of Uvwie for conducting themselves in an orderly manner, adding that Uvwie is a PDP stronghold.
Speaking with newsmen moments after, Chief Ighrakpata thanked the delegates and the people of Uvwie for the confidence reposed in him. While thanking his opponents for accepting the outcome of the election in the spirit of sportsmanship, he said “We are all winners and together we will all work to deliver the PDP in all the forthcoming general election.”
Ighrakpata also thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the PDP for providing a level playing field for all the contestants, adding that the party was waxing stronger by the day in the State and the country at large.
