THE defection of Mr. Iliya Habila to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bauchi is raising anxiety over the decision of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on the issue. The polity, in recent times has been awash with comments of impending defection of Dogara from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the PDP.
Habila, who is the senior special assistant to the Speaker on Media, will be contesting for the Bagoro Constituency on the platform of the PDP.
Habila, who is yet to resign his appointment with the Speaker, is from the same Constituency with Speaker Dogara.
Since the defection of Senate President Bukola Saraki from the APC to PDP shortly before the National Assembly went on its annual recess, insinuations have been rife about the defection of Dogara.
As at the time of filing the report, Dogara is yet to announce his defection to the PDP.
On one of his social media accounts, Habila urged his supporters to join him on Saturday at the PDP secretariat for his formal presentation as a contestant for the State House of Assembly.
