PORT HAR-COURT— Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State  has called on the Church, non-governmental organisations, NGOs, civil society groups, international observers and embassies to lend their voices and compel the Federal Government and security agencies to allow the will of Rivers People to prevail in elections.

Wike spoke at the ceremonial enthronement of Rt, Rev. Wisdom Budu Ihunwo, Bishop of the Diocese of Niger Delta North, at the Cathedral Church of St Paul in Port Harcourt, weekend.

Wike, represented by his Deputy, Dr.  Ipalibo Banigo, noted that Rivers State was a very peaceful state and would continue to remain peaceful.

He regretted that during the Port Harcourt Constituency III, state Assembly by-election, security agents hired by the Federal Government unleashed mayhem in an attempt to avert the will of the people.

This came as Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aminu  Tambuwal, has described the late Attorney-General of Rivers State, Mr Emmanuel Aguma, SAN,  as a rare gem and excellent lawyer.

Speaking during a condolence visit to Governor Wike at Government House Port Harcourt, yesterday, Governor Tambuwal noted that late Aguma was a good family man who left worthy legacies.

He said: “He was a good lawyer and a good family man. Our consolation is that he has left great legacies and a good family. We have indeed lost a rare gem. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Responding, Governor Wike expressed appreciation to the  government and people of Sokoto for the condolences.

Wike described late Emmanuel Aguma as a committed public officer who served the state  with dedication and loyalty.
